Cutlist optimizer app

There is a free app for iPhone and iPad, and on everything else the optimizer runs in your browser with nothing to install.

Is there a cutlist optimizer app?

Yes. SmartCut is a free cutlist optimizer app for iPhone and iPad, available on the App Store. On any other device you do not need an app at all, because Cutlist Evolution runs the same optimizer in a web browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook and Android, with nothing to install.

Download SmartCut on the App Store

Not on an iPhone or iPad? Open the optimizer in this browser. Both are free.

What the iPhone and iPad app does

Enter your parts and the sheets or lengths you can buy, and the app works out how to cut them with the least waste. You get the cutting diagrams, the number of sheets you need, and where every offcut falls.

  • Sheet and linear materials, so plywood, MDF, acrylic and sheet metal alongside timber, bar and pipe.
  • Guillotine or efficiency cuts, matching a table saw, a beam saw, a jigsaw or a CNC.
  • Blade width, grain direction, edge banding and stock trim, so the plan matches how the material is really cut.
  • Decimals or fractions, in whichever units you work in.
  • Cut by cut at the saw, with measurements shown from both sides.
  • Export to PDF to print for the workshop, and save projects to reopen later.

Is there a cutlist optimizer app for Android?

There is no Android app, and you do not need one. Open Cutlist Evolution in Chrome or any other browser on your phone or tablet and the optimizer runs there. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Should I use the app or the browser version?

Use the iPhone or iPad app if you want your projects on the device and a cut-by-cut sequence you can follow at the saw without a signal. Use the browser version if you are on a desktop, a laptop, an Android phone or a Chromebook, or if you would rather not install anything. Both run the same optimization engine, so the layouts are the same.

If you are on a desktop or laptop and arrived here looking for an installer, the cutlist optimizer for PC page covers why there is nothing to download. If price is the question, the free cut list optimizer page sets out what the free version includes.
